At last I have an all gold tree. It's a lovely sense of achievement. Thank you to all at Duolingo for their hard work.

To Somersetlass. If I may, two suggestions.

  1. Try the reverse tree (English from French). This will give you an entirely new outlook on your language learning. Click on your Profile and then Settings followed by Learning Languages. Scroll down until (as you obviously know) 'Je veux apprendre l'anglais'and select that and click the Save Changes at the top of your screen. Begin with the Placement Test option and have fun;

  2. Google Duolingo Golden Owl Hall of Fame and join an exclusive club.

It always feels like the end of an era when you finish the tree, doesn't it?

Maybe I will try Italian, but I will be doing that with no prior knowledge whatsoever. A much bigger challenge for me and my old brain.

Well done to Somersetlass, I'm currently ploughing away at the constant new branches on my French tree. Must congratulate Lahure (MR?MISS?) on the impressive scores over several languages?! I recommend comix like Asterix and Malto Cortese in french to any who want to enjoy their new-found lingo.

I did have some French before I started duolingo; so I can read French quite well but my spoken French is not so good. However, I can do such things as book hotels and do the shopping and such stuff, but as for proper conversation my co speaker would have to be sympathetic and acknowledge my shortcomings in spoken French. I will find out in September as I am going to France for my holiday.

I've decided to continue with French by doing the reverse tree and keeping my original tree gold. hopefully, this will improve my fluency which is currently 60%. I am also trying to start italian but it is difficult to find the time.

I haven't finished, but i have worked on it daily, but Duolingo keeps failing to record some of my days and claiming I have a shorter "streak" than I have or even claiming I have none. Annoying.
