The verb "stellen" sounds odd to me in this sentence. Ich würde eher sagen, ich "setze" oder "lege" eine Katze irgendwohin. Eine Katze steht doch nicht, oder!? Was meint ihr?
Probably a porcelain cat or something like that.
The pronunciation is wrong here. She clearly says "der Sofa".
I should have remembered the correct gender of Sofa and realised that it doesn't match mind.
Eh, what? Sounds fine to me (native speaker).
Baffling. I've just listened again twice and it definitely sounds like "der Sofa" to me. I don't even hear a hint of a das.
Isn't it suppose to be:
"Er stellt die Katze auf dem Sofa."
No, it's accusative because motion is implied.
Thanks for clarifying my mistake Christian. I forgot that prepositions can do that.
Why is "He put the cat on the couch" not a correct answer? Or would that imply a past tense?
You already answered your own question: 'He put' is past tense.
