Why would we put 'Mae' in front of Owen? Wouldn't simple having 'Owen eisiau treiffl.' mean the same thing?

It's the equivalent of 'is'. So I think the sentence translates to "Is Owen wanting trifle." -> Owen is wanting trifle -> Owen wants trifle.
