Hello educators, we hope you are having a fabulous end to your week. I came here to tell you about a little feature that we hope will brighten up your weekend a little bit more.
Duolingo for Schools has been making a difference in classrooms around the world. We get your messages, and we wanted to do something to recognize the educators who go above and beyond to be innovators and make sure their students have access to tools that can change their lives.
That is why we have been conducting some online and live training events and tutorials. We want to help, we want to listen, and we want to acknowledge your efforts. Unfortunately it is not everyone who can make it to those events that we host, and chances are we have not offered one in your area. The eagerness is there, we believe that educators know very well the value of learning and building new skills, no matter your current age or experience level. A great number of you are already fluent in Duolingo for Schools; you have all it takes, you know the things we are teaching in our sessions and already apply it to your teaching. But you didn’t get the same “evidence” of all of that as those who could make it to events and get their certificates made. This is for you.

You can now demonstrate to us that you understand the functions of Duolingo by completing the “quests” listed on the top left of your dashboard. Once we know you can do those, we award you with our first-level certificate. Right away. You can type in your name and print it out. You can get certified automatically by using Duolingo for Schools as a teaching tool.
Exciting bonus: For those of you who conduct training sessions or workshops in your region, you can now help others get certified (if you would like to do that, you can also contact us and we can send you some documents and slides you can share). Help them learn what they need and when they get home, they can apply what they learned to retrieve their certificates.
We hope you enjoy it!
The Duolingo Team
To access the certificate:
- Select the certification progress bar
- Complete all the steps and click on “Get your certificate”
- Type your name on the certificate.
DOUBLE AND TRIPLE-CHECK
: you will not be able to edit this name after you submit. It will be the name on your certificate forever (just like when you get a printed one at an event).
And there you go! :]

Listen I love duolingo, I've been using it for about 3-4 years, I use it it my classes 6th grade - 8th grade, but this certificate is just silly. If you're going to make some kind of certification you should at least have some kind of substance behind it. I am planning on signing up for an online seminar as I would love to learn some more about creative ways to use duolingo in the classroom. There is also a serious lack of oversight to truly consider duolingo anything more than a fun diversion to a classroom. If duolingo is serious about creating a education certification program and curriculum for students major additions are going to be needed.

We don't offer one for students yet. Yours should not come out in black and white, please check the settings on your printer (or take your file to a print shop on nice thick paper) ;)
POINT MADE HERE.... NOT YET WIDELY RECOGNIZED!: The Duolingo certification this app can give you is comparable to the IELTS and TOEFL, but as of yet isn't widely recognized. It will take time before an examination of this kind will be recognized by educational establishments and employers.
Bottom Line
As a great implementation of a great concept, Duolingo Test Center looks like a highly promising app, one that can even change the way English certification can be obtained. It's easy to use, purposeful, and turns an otherwise tedious certification process into a quick and fun one. That said, until more universities and employers recognize the certification it offers, you cannot use it for practical purposes. It looks good in your CV, but won't likely impress potential employers.
Hi there! It is a good deal to become a Duolingo Certified Teacher. I have a real issue: How to enroll students who do not have an email address? I am a title 1 middle school teacher and my kids don't use it. Many of them don't have computer at home. Any suggestion? I would like to enroll all my students, so they will be able to work on school computer labs. Thanks for the opportunity to improve our teaching work at school.
I have run into this problem myself, and my work around was to create a email account with with google, yahoo or whatever free service you wanted. Once I created that email account (which I did not give them access to, only I knew the password) I used it to create the duolingo account with which they were allowed to select their own screen name and password for so they could participate with the class.
A certified recognized body is needed to make all this effort to certify on duolingo LEGIT. I suggest improvements to be made firstly to this huge effort to be recognized internationally if that is what DUOLINGO is aiming for. Why put so much effort into a certificate without any recognition internationally with recognized bodies?
I definitely agree with foleyaadam! There's got to be more substancial evidence behind it to work well under a french school system. I wish you good luck! foleyaadam 13 5 Listen I love duolingo, I've been using it for about 3-4 years, I use it it my classes 6th grade - 8th grade, but this certificate is just silly.
