Saluton! As I've been researching universities for quite some time now getting ready to apply this fall, I was wondering if there were any universities (primarily American, but international universities are open as well) that offer courses, or even a degree program (I've heard that this does exist) in Esperanto. Dankon!

If you're looking for a degree via Esperanto rather than one in Esperanto specifically, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland, has degrees in Interlinguistics and the course is taught in Esperanto. See http://www.staff.amu.edu.pl/~interl/interlingvistiko/studoj.html .

(I know one of the people in the photo there - met her at an Esperanto course in Germany.)

I think they only do it every three years, but since there are references to a 2011-2014 course and a 2014-2017 one, there could be another one starting in 2017.

There was a student at Principia College pursuing a degree in Esperanto several years ago. She'll be teaching at NASK this year. The University of Rochester often has a well-run non-credit class -- plus Rochester is where it's at.

I said "pursuing" because i'd though I'd seen that Esperanto wasn't listed on her CV. It seems see also works as an actress and dance instructor. According to the summary here, her degree is in teaching Esperanto. So, it is possible.

I'm Hungarian, and I think none of the universities here teach courses in Esperanto. However, you can go to language courses to learn Esperanto, and get a language exam, but I think it is not what rhythmixed wants.

ELTE indeed used to have graduate program on Esperanto, as one of the programs offered by the Faculty of Humanities, but it ceased to exist in 2007, when the country joined the Bologna Process, as far as I know

The San Marino Academy of Science (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akademio_Internacia_de_la_Sciencoj_San_Marino) is an international science college in San Marino (a small city-state similar to Vatican City, also in Italy but not part of Italy) that teaches all courses in Esperanto. I assume they would also have to teach Esperanto to the students first.

Perhaps a university with an independent studies program and an expert in the field on the faculty who would be willing to serve as advisor?
