How come it isn't "Oui, la fille est mangents du pain"?

"is eating" is the present progressive of "to eat". In French, it translates into "présent" tense (we do not have two different 'progressive' and 'simple' forms): "la fille mange"

To express the progressive idea, people also use the idiomatic phrase "être en train de + infinitive verb". In this case, it would be "Oui, la fille est en train de manger du pain."

(We are going to fix the hints soon for progressive tenses in English)
