What happened to the "x-sistemo"?

I came back after some time, and was trying to practice. But it seems that the "x-sistemo" doesn't work anymore. The words where I use "x" to modify the letters are marked as grammatical errors.

Strange.

In the early lessons, this still seems to work, but in the later sentences, I also get them marked as typos. I think this function is simply implemented as "alternative answers" in the software, so it needs to be done for every single sentence.

Actually, it's built into the system itself. However, sometimes Duolingo runs experiments that have the unfortunate side effect of the x-system not working (and similar substitution systems in other languages). I thought they had fixed it again, so now I'm worried... :(

This happened to me months ago.

After I asked what was going on, I was advised to install Tajpu, a Firefox addon that allows me to write many letters that I can't with my US international keyboard, including all of Esperantos hat letters.

If Tajpu can't be installed on your system, the New Zealand Esperanto Society's web site should still have a list of links that will help you with this.
