Flashcards

Hello Creators of this wonderful service!

I have just started my language adventure but I feel that it'll become part of my life and great growth booster!:D

I think that I will need to incorporate a flashcards app into my learning process though. I was wondering if maybe there is a hidden tool somewhere that takes all the words that one learned and makes it possible to exercise it in a flashcard way. I can see that the known words counter is increasing for me but is there a way to see a list of them?

Thank you very much for your amazing work!

Maral.

There is a vocabulary tab at the top of screens on the old layout, however, if you are part of the new interface, you don't currently have a vocabulary tab(I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong). You can read a little bit about the new interface here: http://www.duolingo.com/comment/1331652. Eventually the beta layout will have the same functionality as the old layout, so don't worry :)

If you are not on the new interface, you can go to the vocabulary tab or go to this link: http://www.duolingo.com/vocab. For instruction on using vocabulary you can go to http://www.duolingo.com/comment/1453744, part of the larger series A Guide to Finding Duolingo Guides(http://www.duolingo.com/comment/1278938).

Edit: Also what Usagiboy7 said.

Welcome to Duolingo maralka!

Duolingo doesn't have a built in set of vocabulary flashcards. For those in the 90% layout group, there is a Vocabulary tab with some other tools. But, I'm betting that you're in the beta layout since you're so new. If that's the case you won't have the Vocabulary tab at this time. You might want to check out some of the other options created by users. Here is a link to the New User FAQ http://www.duolingo.com/comment/1426103 you'll see that #12 is for Vocabulary, with a couple of options for export.

Other than that, I've heard other users mention that they use Anki, Memrise, and Cram.com

Good luck! ^_^

Thank you very much for all the tips. I think that I will go with Anki:)

I couldn't make any of the solutions that you have mentioned work because they seem to be extracting data from html tree which is not loading for me (it seems that I am really too young;).

I created a tiny script which lists all the words from javascript object hidden in the page. (https://github.com/gyarill/DuolingoVocabulary/blob/master/list.js - can be pasted into console once http://www.duolingo.com/vocab is loaded)

I will still have to find definitions by hand but as Laura mentioned it is good exercise on its own.

I really really can not wait when flashcards will be integrated!:D So exiting;)

Actually I've just found link to a cool chrome extension in FAQ mentioned by Usagiboy7

It'll do the trick for now^^

I've made a bunch of Spanish flash cards on quizlet. Here is the link:

If you would prefer to use Anki, you can always export my flashcards from Quizlet, and use them on Anki. It may save you some work, if you want to use them.

Flashcards are a good idea. Memory matching games would be good too. The front and back could be either the (native language) and (learning language) or (word in learning language) and (picture representing the word).
