How can we learn a language if we have no scooby doo of how it is pronounced?

I thought I will have a go at this. A. I don't understand how it works. B. I can see that we are sent out to do homework. However without pronouncing and having the "feel" of the language, how would we learn? My interest is in pornouncing correctly. At the moment, it is tedious and make no sense. Or am I missing something?

The FSI language courses are among the best speaking and listening courses. They were developed by the US government alongside professional linguists for diplomats to learn the languages of the nations they would be travelling to. All of their courses are in the public domain (meaning they are free for anyone to use). You can download the books and audio from the website, or simply access them from the website itself.

Duo began as a program to teach people to translate texts for the web. Of the four parts of "learning a language" (listening/speaking/reading/writing) Duo is admittedly weak on speaking and listening. Most of us here that want to become conversationally proficient use Duo for the reading/writing and go to other sources for the speaking/listening. There are many places on the web, TV, CDs, DVDs, and so one that one can listen to and learn the scooby doo of French. ;)

If you want to learn how to pronounce the language you are learning I reccomend the website "Forvo," and listening to the language spoken.

I love the title of this discussion xD

I find pronunciation tutorials by native speakers on Youtube. I've heard good things about that fsi course TheLibrarian mentioned too though. :)
