are there any abbreviations in swedish that are used online and in real life that are essential to know?

The ones I can think of that is often used is:

SEK = Swedish krona

t.ex. = till exempel

bl.a. = bland annat

d.v.s., dvs. = det vill säga

etc. = etcetera

f.d. = före detta

forts. = försättning

fr.o.m. = från och med

m.fl. = med flera

  • m.a.p. - med avseende på - with respect/regards to, regarding

  • p.s.s. - på samma sätt - in the same way OR på så sätt - in that way

  • ff.a. / fr.a. - framför allt - before all else, especially (this one might be considered non-standard and less widely understood)

Here are also some common informal chat/text abbreviatons:

  • iaf - i alla fall - anyway

  • isf - i så fall - in that case

  • iofs - i och för sig - on the other hand, if you think about it

In what context did you find m.a.p., p.s.s. and ff.a.? They are new to me.

@Thomas161932 Mostly in academic or formal contexts. The first three are all less widely used though, so while they may be good to know and understand I would perhaps advise against using them, at least for learners. M.a.p. and p.s.s. is used more in a mathematics/physics context from my experience, while they looove to use ff.a. in medicine (which is what I study now).
