If a class is set to one specific language will xp for doing other languages show up?

Hi,

I am part of a duolingo class set to lerning French and I was wandering if doing another language that is not French will cause my xp in that class to go up?

I did conduct some tests, I did a bit of Polish and the xp I earned showed up on the xp "this months" and "this week" but it was not totaled up when it came to "All time".

So I am wandering what is the whole mechanic about xp from other languages in classes set for one one language.

Thank you in advance.

My guess is that if you move this to the Educators forum you will get more accurate info specific to classes.

Hi JuliuszR,

As WildSage suggested, could you relocate this discussion in the “Educators" forum? You'll be more likely to have useful answers there (and it belongs there ;) ).
To relocate it (please, don’t create a new one), edit your original post then select the said forum in the drop-down menu on top-left of the edition area.

Have a look to this short guide to help you knowing where to post your (future) discussions on Duolingo’s forums.

The XP for each course is separate. You can see that on your profile page (right hand side of that).

yes that's what happens to your own profile but my question is about classes

A class is supervised by a teacher who would have access to the data from the course on their dashboard. They don't depend on data from the leaderboard which shows a consolidated value.

P.S. - This is just a surmise as I never had occasion to make use of this feature.

Well as I said, the all time xp only includes French xp not other language xp which is included in this week and this month so I am wondering how that mechanic works.

Actually, all time XP is supposed to include the XPs from all courses you are learning.

Data from my profile, for example:
Spanish for English speakers - 127456
English for Spanish speakers - 8538
Total All-time XP - 135994

Well on the homepage, we have our leader board and a down arrow next to it. When I click the arrow and select my class I am able to view the xp of all my class members. And like I said, "this week" and "this month" I have over 2k xp and under the "all time" column I only have over 1k xp. This difference is definitely the xp I did in another language (not French). Is this a bug?

The teacher can only see the xp from the one language s/he teaches :)
