Does the 'erbyn hyn' mean 'by now' in this context?

"Now" and "by now" are not interchangeable in English. Does Welsh make the same distinction?

I got an exercise for Dw i wedi graddio nawr followed immediately by one for Dw i wedi graddio erbyn hyn, with the difference being "graduating now" versus "now graduating." I failed to understand the difference: I think that in both cases, the speaker seems to want to say that they have graduated sometime in the past, but then I would probably use erbyn hyn in this case. Am I missing something?
