Vocab section for new layout?

I've heard that the older layout of Dulingo included a vocabulary section, where you can see a list of the words you've learned in each language. But I have the newer layout and this doesn't have it. Are there plans to add it in the future, or was it omitted?

There are discussions of the vocabulary options here http://www.duolingo.com/comment/1278938 in both number 4 (FAQ) and number 6 (Vocabulary tab guide). Both of those contain different information. I think the latest vocabulary tab info has already been added in number 6.

Number 2 is FAQ :)

For those who don't feel like trying to find the applicable information in those comments, here is the most important part:
"The vocab page in the current state will not necessarily be in the new design." ( http://www.duolingo.com/comment/1497957 )

I have a feeling they are doing away with the vocab section (or at least changing it). Other 'missing' features like the ability to give lingots (which I hear is now included) and the bonus lessons, the staff has been very upfront about "these will eventually be added to the new layout", but they have kept pretty quiet on the vocab section...

What is your opinion as to why they would do away with the vocab section? I use it all the time to refresh words and to look up words, and besides that I like to know the words I am suppose to know. I don't see the logic of removing something that we all use as a learning tool.

I use it all the time too.
My only guess as to why they would get rid of it would be to quicken the pace a user advances through the language tree. If I had to guess it would be users like me (sorry!) that would drive this change. I have been on the site for 208 days, am at level 18, and only about 3/4 my way through the tree. I get the feeling that Duo wants us to push forward as quickly as possible.
The change during Christmas where the Strengthen Skill option was removed for skills fully 'strengthened' is another example of this. They did this because, "Honestly we thought it was better for your learning if we encouraged you to advance instead of practicing when all your skills are at full strength.". http://www.duolingo.com/comment/1261519
Aside from that, I just don't understand why they would remove it. If you watch this youtube link (at about 25 minutres) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7aTabdzr5Q Luis talks about how letting users see their vocabulary stats increased user retention. So, I just don't know.
But, it does seem like they are doing something to it, especially based on kristinemc comment in Usagiboys link.
