Is this not an awkward translation? Shouldn't it be 'have' the chicken. Prendre with food is usually have, not take like 'have a cup of coffee'

I wrote "I take a chicken in order to eat it". But it doesn't like 'it'. Is that not the sense? That you're going to eat the chicken?
