If you like Novella's in Spanish with subtitles, you might enjoy Grand Hotel and Velvet on Netflix. The story lines are good too. It helps getting used to hearing Spanish spoken by natives. It also helps finding someone to chat with in Spanish.

It really depends on what kind of movies you like to watch!

Personally, I'm a big fan of Nacho Vigalondo's Crónocrimines & Extraterrestre, which are smart, funny, high concept, relatively low budget science fiction films.

Guillermo del Toro's El Espinazo del Diablo and El Labirinto del Fauno are gorgeously shot horror/fairy tale allegories about children during the Spanish Civil War. They are brutal and disturbing in places, but incredibly sensitively, thoughtfully done.

[REC] and [REC]2, directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza are straight-up, bloody, scary, horror movies. They're fun and effective, and take place mostly in an absolutely beautiful (if sometimes creepy!) Barcelona apartment building. (There are other films in the series, but IMO they're not as good.)

J.A. Bayona's El Orfonato is a beautifully made horror/suspense film that builds an incredibly tense atmosphere and just doesn't let go of you. It's scary without being particularly bloody or violent. It's also a well-drawn, sad, humane, portrait of the woman who is the main character.

But those are the kinds of movies I like! Not everybody likes science fiction, fantasy, and horror! Whatever kind of movies you happen to be into personally, they are almost certainly being made in Spanish as well as English. There are tons of Spanish movie trailers on YouTube, and it's worth browsing through them to find something you really want to watch.

"Like water with chocolate" is a fun older movie and great if you are a foodie. Also "el internado" a novellia is kind of intersting for awhile. I have a few other on my netflix, "las brujas de zugarramurdi" or witching and bitching is one I have pn my list but haven't watched yet, kind of horror genre. As someone else mentioned, the devils backbone and pans labryinth are great. There's alot of movies about pablo escobar on there too.

'El laberinto del fauno' is an awesome movie! There are a few graphic scenes, though. :)

I recommend Relatos Selvajes, Diarios de motocicleta and all Almodovar movies. In regard of Tv Shows, I'm watching Isabel now. It's about Queen Isabel de Castilla.
