Irish dictionary recommendations - book form
Hi! I want a reliable Irish-English / English-Irish dictionary in book form. Which should I choose? Something that has examples of usage of words would be nice.
Thank you! Eh...I ordered both of them (the Foclóir and the an póca). A person can't have too many dictionaries.
I second those recommendations. Although I find the print in An Foclóir Póca too small for me these days. :(
I do like the Foclóir Póca, myself, but I agree that the print is very small. A possible one-volume alternative is the "Easy Learning Irish Dictionary" by Collins (ISBN 978-0008150303). It has a nicely spaced, two-color layout, and also contains some good examples of usage, some word lists, and even a few grammar summaries. Apparently a revised edition just came out in April 2016, so you might want to check it out.
You've already found the resources on the web, right?
I ordered the Collins easy learning one as well. I really like the layout of those books. Thanks for the suggestion!
Of course I've seen the online ones! Teanglann is just dangerous and I'm trying to cut back on internet time. Besides, paper is better. ; )
