чому "Родина без батька" не приймається?

However, I asked my MIL-to-be ( a native Ukrainian) about the differences between these words. She said that Сім'я is for immediate family while Родина is for extended family. By that logic Сім'я would be a better fit! but technically you could have an entire extended family with no fathers!

Ukrainian exists between Russian and Polish. Russian семья and Polish rodzina

Is 'тато' not an acceptable substitute for 'батька' here?
