From the notes in the questions section, I would have thought that this should be "Bạn có yêu mẹ của bạn không?" or "Bạn yêu mẹ của bạn phải không?" Are có/phải not actually necessary for yes/no questions?

I was taught as a child that yeu was for romantic love, and to use thuong for family, pets, stuffed animals, etc.

"Yêu" or "mẹ" here doesn't sound anything like the way my Vietnamese friends say it.
