Is there a difference between, Ich sehe keinen and Ich sehe nichts?

You use "Kein" when you are modifying a verb right? So why does nichts get used in the second sentence?

Ich sehe keinen ... is I don't see any (of something). Ich sehe nichts! is I don't see anything or I see nothing.

"Ich sehe keinen." can also mean "I see nobody." (Like "Ich sehe niemanden.")

steeph, Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize that 'keinen' had the connotation you suggested in that sentence.
