There's only ONE person working on Yiddish! I'm worried! What if this person stops working on it? Where are the other contributors? There really needs to be more Yiddish contributors...anyone?
I speak Yiddish fluently, they ignore my pleas to help make the course. איך ווייס נישט וואס דו פאק איז נישט גוט מיט זיי... זיי זאגן גארנישט ציריק צי מיך..
If you could help in making a course on Memrise and giving pronunciations for words without them on Forvo that would be amazing. I'd love to learn Yiddish but I can find anywhere I can pick it up.
I can do, I'm creating one on Memrise actually with pronunciations. They are about 10,000 words, so they will take some while, but in the end it would be awesome I think. And another one which is for grammar, it would be awesome too. :) But, I hope the Yiddish activates here :(
Im trying, my mic sucks really badly sorry if its inaudible :/ also there are some people here so I need to wait for them to leave to record more words and ill just keeping adding words from then.
They don't have pronunciation. Do what you wish but you seemed willing so I though I'd ask.
Oh, I can check it out tomorrow (as it's 4 am) I'll see what I can do, no promises tho :P
Don't stress it though. If you get around to it then yay! if not meh. It's all good. :)
Even if you made a some-what course on Memrise, I'd definitely sign up for it. Add to my dangerously long list.
I am a fluent Yiddish speaker and own many textbooks for learning Yiddish in German and English. I applied to contribute in January, but I never got any response. Besides, I am a certified project manager and have taught German before. So I know a thing or two about getting projects back on track and about language teaching. I'd love to work on the Yiddish course, but I don't know what else I could do besides applying to become a contributor.
What if this person stops working on it?
Duo would have to find at least one new contributor in order for the course to progress.
Where are the other contributors?
Which others? Do you know anyone who could contribute? If so, please tell them to apply.
I'll try, I'm hoping that there are some Yiddish speakers here on Duo right now.
I know Yiddish, not fluent but I'm in level B2:C1. ווען איך קאַנטריביוטיד, עס איז קיין ענטפער.
I speak Hebrew, my grandfather spoke Yiddish. Unfortunately I know only a few phrases. I can't wait for the course is ready.
They already stopped. :( They said that they will start again soon, but that was about two months ago and the post has been deleted.
What do we do about this? Can we get Louis Ahn to help start approving the Yiddish people?
That is possible, but it would take a lot of support and willing contributors to get the staff's attention, sadly, as I really want to learn Yiddish, and all the websites I use don't offer Yiddish, and I have a limited number of ways/websites/resources I can learn a language from and still remember it the next day.
Tweet to Luis Van Ahn on twitter. I did. Right now Yiddish has no one working on it!!
I tweeted to Luis Van Ahn on twitter, a lot, so I'm hoping it pushed him to approve more contributors!
there are 3 now :P, but its the same 3 שמענדריקס who dont do anything and dont reply to messages.... :/
@isrealpolasak: Really? What a shame, I thought for sure gentsl was new, although I recognized mendl and asya.000 never left.
how do you see how is making a course or that there is a new course in progress? thanks
