"Dyw car Dewi Lingo ddim yn salw."

Translation:Dewi Lingo's car is not ugly.

This sentence doesn't make sense to me. It has a double negative beginning with "doesn't" and then using "ddim". Could someone provide a literal translation to help me figure out the logic of this? Thanks!

"Dyw/dydy" is always accompanied by "ddim". Yes if translated word for you would have a double negative, but since you don't translate directly you end up with "Dewi lingo's car is not ugly."

The apparent double negative is not a problem in Welsh. The two languages do not work in the same way, so literal translations are not always very helpful.
