What is the difference between kładę and wkładam?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Jellei

Kładę ON something, like a table. Wkładam INTO something, like a cupboard.

My life in a sentence

Could it be "Kładę ubrania na krzesło"?

Yes it can, added. It denotes the movement rather than the destination, but it's a perfectly correct sentence.

I thought that this would be the most natural option. Clearly the clothes are not "static" in this sentence.

I guess how much direction is needed to tip the scales vary from language to language.

Wouldn't "lay" also be correct here?

That could depend on whether you are putting the clothes on the flat part of the chair, or hanging them from the back of the chair.

Or it could describe the clothes

laying the clothes in a certain way perhaps
