You know there's a Chinese course on Duolingo, and this is the Vietnamese course, don't you?
You know there are plenty of people who came here with some background in Chinese (like me) and these connections are immensely helpful mnemonics for us, don’t you?
Well, maybe. But to avoid confusion or misusing later, you should keep in mind that Vietnamese and Chinese came from different families (Vietnamese - Austroasiatic, Chinese - Sino-Tibetan). Hence, aside from the borrowed words, the sentence structure, pronunciation, and etc. are totally different.
Thanks, knowing the Sino-Vietnamese origins of the words really helps my understanding of the language. I really appreciate it!
