This new design is very, very hard on my eyes. I use Duolingo a lot, sometimes hours a day, and after only ten minutes of the new bright white background and pale grey text, I can feel a tension headache forming.

Some of the grey text is so pale I have to stare hard at the screen to even make it out.

I've turned the brightness all the way down on my monitor as a temporary workaround, but I hope fixing this can be made a priority. I can't be the only one having this problem.

Has anyone thought of the possibility that you might actually need DIFFERENT designs for the web and for mobile devides? Because they are used in different scenarios, users have different requirements. Also the technology is different (screen technology, size of the screens etc.)

The new design looks like it's been optimized for mobile devices, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it is suited also for use on a normal computer screen.

My sentiment as well. These are two different environments and need different designs, layouts etc.

If you are using windows there is an application to negate the screen. http://arcanesanctum.net/negativescreen/ I have been using it about a month now. I was an early tester of the new layout. I told them on day one it was too bright.

Any possibility of custom skins happening in the future? Either natively or via something like greasemonkey (if that's still around)?
