But we were just taught that 'a glass of' is 'glasied' so I'm puzzled


There are a couple of words in use for 'glassful', each with common variations:

  • gwydraid (gwydred, gwydrad)
  • glasiaid (glasied, glasiad)

Similarly, 'cupful':

  • cwpanaid (paned, panad)
  • dysglaid (disglad, disgled) (actually 'bowlful' but also used for cwpanaid in some dialects)
