What is with the word order in this sentence? Why isn't "de koning" before "grote macht"?

Because we like variation in word order. :) 'De koning heeft geen grote macht' is correct also. Sometimes it's done to put more emphasis on certain parts of the sentence. Putting grote macht in front makes 'grote macht' look like the most important part of the sentence.
