In Spanish, “ball" is “pelota", so now I have to make the association in Welsh between “pelota" and “pêl". Isn't it amazing that your other languages help you with a new one?
...and in Polish it's Piłka. I wonder if this is coincidence?
Also cognate with English "ball." Old PIE root was *bhel.
And in Ukrainian, м'яч (mjach). Wait... that doesn't work.
