If I can remember correctly, they both mean 'soon'. So what's the difference?

'straks' is definitely sooner and more defined than 'binnenkort'. I would say that 'straks' is 'later today', while binnenkort means 'some time in the near future'.

"Straks" Is more often used in the same way "later" is. "Zie je straks" Directly translates to "See you later"

"Binnenkort" would be more akin to "soon"
