I believe "svenska" refers to the Swedish language, and "svensk" refers to a Swedish person.

For example:

"Jag talar inte svenska" talks about the language.

"Han är svenk" talks about a person.

So basicly "svensk" is an adjective and "svenska" is a language.

But adjectives can get an -a sometimes.

En svensk skog. Den svenska skogen. Ett svenskt hus. Det svenska huset.

In addition, the noun svenska can also refer to a Swedish woman specifically.
