Practice translating/sentence building only? Advice?

Hey all! I don't know if this function is available, so I figured I could ask! I'm learning Spanish (and loving it + Duolingo) and I'm really into doing the timed quizzes. However, some portions of the timed quiz are too easy/trivial and I feel are not helping me really learn anything. For example, the type of question where it asks you to translate a sentence and then gives you 3 check box answers. 9 times out of 10 I never have to read the options to know the answer. Since it typically generates options that are so far fetched from each other, my eye just catches the subject word of the sentence and I'll already know that that is the answer, without ever reading the rest of the sentence. It seems really pointless to me and it bums me out when the quiz keeps throwing those types of questions at me.

My question is, is there an area on the site where I could just practice translating sentences back and forth? It really bugs me when I'm so into the quizzes and then get thrown questions that are so trivial that it doesn't challenge me.

Any advice would be amazing-- thanks so much! :)

If you go to immersion, you can translate real articles and earn points for it. If you haven't tried it yet, you really should. It sounds like that might be the kind of challenge you need. :)

The checkbox questions might be a little easy, I totally get it. They're easy in German, too. But, you're going to get some of those in the Timed Practice. It's great that you think they're easy, though! To me, that says you're doing really well.
