The new format inspired me to finish the Italian tree!
Okay, that's a little misleading, I still have the original tree. But when I read the new version would be rolled out within the week, and there wasn't a trophy at the bottom of the completed trees I knew I had to drop everything and finish my own tree. I do a lesson or two every day (10 to 26 coins) if I can, I rarely have a streak of over twenty days, and I took most of the summer off. You could say I was taking it slowly, however yesterday I earned 229 coins and got to take a screenshot of my trophy!
After I finished I looked at my profile to see when I started with Duolingo. It turns out I finished on my one year anniversary, 1/22/13 - 1/22/14. Now I'll do the reverse tree with the new format.
Congratulations on finishing your first tree!
I'm sad to read that the Duo-trophy won't be at the bottom any more; I've read about the changes, but missed that. I'm still two or three months from completing mine and was really looking forward to seeing that little guy pop up when I am done.
They updated it so there is now a trophy! It's not as glamorous as the last one and it doesn't have the flag indicating which language it's from, but at least there's a trophy now. :D
Congratulations on finishing your tree! As Gringacho said, though, they made a new trophy and just recently added it. Here's a picture of it: http://d1lalstwiwz2br.cloudfront.net/images_users/tiny_mce/Elizabeth0/phpwYQMCi.png
It's no where near as nice as the last one, with the colorful flag draped around him...but oh well, at least there's something there. :)
Congratulations on finishing your tree. I am only a third of the way through my Italian tree. However I DID have a trophy for my French tree. I wish I had taken a screenshot of it ! Duolingo has now put a trophy back at the end of the tree but the trophy has a laurel wreath and not a scarf ....
What is the tree? I just started Italian recently, and don't see a tree anywhere. Also, where are the basic instructions and explanations of how Duolingo works? Don't know what the XPs, etc. that I see are!
Thanks! At least I know what that is now. A lot of the other things are still a mystery, but I just keep doing the lessons--guess that's all that really matters.
Great screen shot! I've tried but can't figure out how to see everything on the screen at once. Are you using CTRL - or something similar to get it all on your monitor at one time? A brief tutorial on how you were able to do that will be greatly appreciated.
The zoom button is my friend ;)
In either Google Chrome or Internet Explorer you should be able to go into your options list and adjust the zoom to your liking.
Obviously after that, (at least on Windows, my knowledge of Apple computers is limited) you just open the Snipping Tool and take a screenshot of the page.
Thanks! I usually use Firefox and had tried the zoom with it, but it will only let me get half of the tree at maximum zoom. I'll give it a try with GChrome.
PorquePuedo, how do you insert a picture into a comment like that? Is it by imbedded code? I haven't been able to figure it out yet...
[EDIT: well that try didn't work lol]
Well, first, the image that you want must be somewhere on the internet. If you've got a G+ account, you can share it. I don't use any other social networking sites but you can post pictures online with Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. etc.
Once that's outta the way, right click on your online image and click "Copy image URL".
Come onto Duolingo and type an exclamation mark "!" then in square brackets just write some totally random rubbish e.g. [ilikestrawberrypie] and then in normal brackets copy the image URL. Like this:
! [orangejuice] (a-picture.pictures.com/about/pictures)
Just like that, but without the spaces.
Oh wow, thanks! I was thinking more along the lines of HTML code and would never have come up with that.
Let me try now...and while I'm at it, give you a little incentive to do some work on your tree. :P
[Edit: Yay, it works! By the way, the stuff you put in the square brackets becomes the "alt", which is the text that shows up on some browsers next to your cursor when you put your mouse over the picture.]
Hehe, that's too bad, because the trophy is already there in the new design! See (don't click it if you don't want a spoiler): https://www.dropbox.com/s/hafsoq6bbs8cgbw/trophy.png
Anyway, congratulations ;)
Thanks for sharing the link. It was nice to have finished with the same version I started with. I have an 'old school' version of the Duo t-shirt, so my shirt and trophy both feature the same owl. I'm looking forward to getting the new design of Duolingo and hope to get a trophy with the new Duo too.
