This advice is the most pertinent. I must admit that I was very bummed out at DUOLINGO for not being able to get ahold of them about freezing my stuccoing while I was in the hospital. So figured out to do this. The couple non-consecutive days I missed, my streak was protected by my "paid" streak freeze. I did that a few times. I sure was glad I could do that in between my two operations, recoveries, and all the other things that went on during my hospital stay. I know I'm only using DUOLINGO's free service, but I really wish I could've gotten some help from them instead of trying to figure out something for myself and hoping for the best.

It's possible to have it, I had it last friday :( I played duolingo in a place with sucky internet, did a (new) excercise and quit the game, seems I quit the game a bit too soon that it couldn't send / received particular data from the Duolingo server(s) and this way the day after I wanted to do my excercises, I saw I've lost my streak :'( :'( (one of 85 days :'( :'( Is there no possibilty to ask for it ?

I have tried to fix one of my student's accounts for the classroom I have set up. We are an ELL class using Duolingo to support learning English, but his account will not let us have English instructions, menu options, etc.. His account is in Spanish but he doesn't read or write Spanish, he only speaks Spanish at home, and we are trying to support his English language skills. None of my other students are having this problem and the options available to him and our lack of knowledge in how to continue to solve this problem are causing loss of learning time. Please help!

I am trying to contact support. I have had 2 charges for 79.99 on my Apple ID account to purchase 'DuoLingo Plus', as well as various charges for 'gems' equaling to a lot of $$'s I only started duolingo less than 2 weeks ago and I am up to $175 in DuoLingo charges, and I only started this program 11 days ago. I understood that DuoLingo Plus was for unlimited use (no additional charges). If I cannot get someone to assist me on, this. I will be reporting to Apple ID that this is fradulent, and will cancel my subscription, and ask for a refund.. I have been through all things DuoLingo to try to get a support number, chat, or email that I can communicate with them on. No avail. How can I contact DuoLingo directly?

Where are the lessons are located? I just downloaded the app to learn Mandarin, and there are no lessons it’s just quizzes. For example I’m being quizzed on the numbers as if I should know them already.

They are the "lessons". You learn by imitation (of the correct answer that is given to you when you fail), by try and fail (and try again and finally got it correct).
It's a method working by repetition (until it enters your memory), as when you learned your mother tongue.

For example I’m being quizzed on the numbers as if I should know them already.

No, "as if you should finally end up knowing them after being corrected several times where each correction is the occasion to learn by imitation".

That's Duolingo's method.

You learn by try and fail. That's the whole idea of Duolingo : you try an answer (you can hover over the words to have hints in order to help you guess the correct answer) then either you are correct (good for you) or you're not, in which case Duolingo shows you the answer so that you can learn it and next time you're asked the same question you'll remember more or less and the process starts again.
It's similar to how you learn you're mother tongue : by imitation (of the correct way to say things), by try and fail (and being corrected).

That's Duolingo's method.

If you have used Duolingo on a device (computer, phone, tablet, etc.) to which some other persons (either family members or unknown person, if you logged in from a public computer for instance) have access, then yes if you forgot to log out after using Duolingo.

Last week i paid for 6 months of Plus, did so as i was spending 20 hours on flights and wanted to use the offline mode. I downloaded a whole bunch of skills to be used when offline. But when i got around to it on the plane it said i needed to be online. Really frustrating! Any idea what the issue is? This is on an iPhone 7 with the latest iOS.

I would really love to use this but cannot get beyond lesson 1 in Spanish Lesson 1 (basics) teaches you words and then tests you and you can practice as much as you like If you want to go to the next stage - basic2 you are immediately tested on words you have not learnt - how are you supposed to know words you have not learnt? If it says you have already a profile then use the information you're entering (when it answers you that) to log in instead of entering them to "create a new profile".

You have to log in your account on the app, instead of trying to create a new one: the message about email already used appears when you're trying to create an account instead of loging --- with username and password --- into your account.
When you first install the app, there were a blue page with two buttons: first "Get started", not to be clicked, and a "I already have an account". You have to go back to that screen.

Note: When you're experiencing a problem/bug/glitch on Duolingo or more generally have a question about how Duolingo works (or should work), please do the following before creating a new discussion:

    "mostly typing the words by yourself" instead of "mostly clicking on predefined words"

Voyant que votre profile affiche "niveau 13", je pense que vous parlez des "niveaux". Auquel cas, sachez que les "niveaux" ne sont qu'une mesure de la quantité de travail fourni. Ils ne sont en rien une indication de l'avancement dans le cours ni n'ont de lien avec cela : on peut atteindre le niveau 25 (le dernier) en ne faisant rien d'autre que la première leçon de la première unité, ad nauseam.

Et, oui, les cours ont une taille finie. Il est très probable que vous ayez vu toutes les leçons une fois. Que pouvez-vous faire maintenant ?

  • Renforcer vos connaissances en révisant les leçons déjà faites
  • Travailler sur le cours inverse ("Français depuis l'espagnol")
  • Travailler sur un cours comme "Espagnol depuis l'anglais" : cela fera d'une pierre, deux coups.
  • etc.

How can I figure out when the next auto-pay will be do that i can end my subscription before it renews?? The Support Page's article about "cancelling Plus" seems to answer that clearly. According to this article, the "cancellation" is more precisely a "cancellation of the automatic renew", (not a cancellation of Duo plus itself).
Therefore, according to that article,

For iOS

You can cancel it right now and you'll have it until Oct. 22th (then you can renew it).

For Android

You have to cancel it anytime before the monthly automatic payment which is made each month at the same date (so you can know that date by looking at your Google Play Store) and it'll stop on that date.

I'm learning Hebrew but it is FAR less easier to learn on than the German I'm also learning. In the German lessons I'm able to touch the words and hear them pronounced, but the same does not work for the Hebrew lessons and because that is so, it is much harder to learn even a single word. Can you enable the click-on-word option for the Hebrew lessons as well?

As a new plus subscriber i’m disappointed to have to sit through repeated pop up owls before being able to use the app. Typically three pop ups will provide insight such as de nada means your welcome which after an ad style delay before I can cancel will just return me to ten main screen. This mind numbing loop will repeat a few times (5 is the record so far) sapping any joy and hope prior to learning anything. There is no option to turn it off (or other gimmicky features) and of course no direct customer contact option. All this was fine for a free app but not once it’s c. £100 a year.

The Childhood module in the Spanish course incorrectly uses “use to _” for verbs such as montaba, leia, tenia. The correct English translation is “used to _”. To make matters worse, sometime is the correct answer is “use to ”, and sometimes it is “used to ”. It is extremely frustrating and it is halting my progress, as I continuously run out of health. PLEASE FIX THIS! It is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!!!

    I am not from DuoLingo - I'm just a regular person who uses this app. I found for me, that I did level 1 and 2 in each category first, and once I finished all 85 or so categories, I went back and did level 3 in all 85 categories and then level 4, and I am now working my way through level 5. This way, I am constantly learning and then reviewing what I learned since I keep going back to it, although it could be months later. Also, you can 'test' out of a level by hitting the key shaped icon so you only have to do a few lessons per category, if you feel you know the material. If you do this on your phone you get charge 10 or 2 lingot; if you do it on the computer you can 'test out of a level' for free. I practice the lessons on my phone and then 'test out' using the computer when I feel I have learned that lesson. That's how I do it - but you get to pick what is right for you!!

    6/20/2019 Why are the lingots not always accounted for? Usually the gems are applied once reaching the day's goal or when completing all levels of a lesson but the extra gems earned from watching ads are not applied. Today's issue is slightly different - no gem was applied, not for completing today's goal nor watching the ad. I ended yesterday/ started today w/ 299 gems, I received two lingots for completing the goal && one lingot for watching an ad but I'm still at 299 lingots.

    Thanks to the new heart system I have had to exit out of a session twice now. I getting really ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ sick of it. This new system of yours is greatly impeding my abilitly to learn german. I get to stop and wait until I get another heart. Ya'll are either going to get rid of this system or your about to lose a user.

    Your update does not work for me on my iPad Air. When I speak into the microphone Duolingo apparently does not hear it correctly and when I get to the translation I have done it correctly. Consequently I us up all my hearts! Please fix this problem!!!!

    That happened to me. The internet was out and I didn’t know it. You can possibly use lingots to repair the streak. Check it out.

    I complete one lesson practice this morning, and everything went fine. When I opened Duolingo again, the page appears normal. However, when I choose a lesson (to practice, or enter a new skill) I click on it and end up on a blank page. I tried many times. Somehing is wrong...
