Are there better ways to express something in the passive voice. For example, wouldn't it be better to say, "Gaso estas trovinta sub la maro"?

I am not confident enough in my Esperanto to give concrete examples, but yes, the English sentence wasn't translated literally in this case. I would translate "Oni trovis gason sub la maro" as "They found gas below the sea."

Despite all the gas, no place is better, down where is wetter.

Would "Gas has been found" be "Gaso trovitas" rather than gaso being the accusitive?
