Why not 'golchi'r'?

"Golchi" is to wash, "Glanhau" is "to clean".

I'm not sure, but "golchi'r siop" doesn't sound right to me; you "golchi" the dishes, but "glanhau" the floors etc.

Having said that, it's traditional to "sychu" (lit. "to dry") the worktops when you clean them: "Dwi'n sychu'r bwrdd" > "I'm cleaning (lit. drying) the table".
