I just got a little message telling me that so and so has passed me in skill points. What are skill points? Is that code for XP? I don't care that I got passed up. Is this a new A/B test? If it is, oh powers that be, it is not going to motivate me. I'm not into competition in my language learning. I can motivate myself. Thanks anyway.
Your box is checked in Settings, it's not an A/B test. I think it's combined XP across all languages (all I know is I have 5000.)
I have never been notified of someone passing me before and that is not because of the amount of XP I accrue. I'm kind of a low scorer.
I had never seen it until a week ago and people pass me all the time. I think it's just one of those things about the site that we should ignore.
Thanks. Will do. EDIT: I just did, but mine was already unchecked. Thus, I think it might be an A/B test.
There is indeed an A/B test named "backcompat_backend_bring_back_pass_email_notifications" that seems to be about "bringing back" it. What I don't get from the name of the A/B test is what "backend" refers to.
Luscinda, this is great. I won't spend time worrying about people passing me, so I'll be able to spend all my time obsessing over the fluency meter ;)
