Where is the leader board?
Each day, seeing how much I have progressed in comparison to my friends really motivates me to a little bit more. For some reason, the leader-board is not in my home sidebar?

I can't see any A/B test's name about leaderboard, friends or anything that seems to apply.
Maybe either there was an A/B test before, it ended and they kicked the leaderboard out as a result, or they just kicked it without A/B test.
Since I don't remember anyone talking in the past about the leaderboard missing, I'd go for the second option (deletion without A/B test) or a bug.
EDIT: Mine is back.
And with a new feature (well, I didn't noticed it before, at least): I can select either the "classical" leaderboard, or any of the classroom I'm the Educator of or a student in.
Maybe the temporary disappearance was due to this new release.
It seems a little buggy: whenever I load the main page, the leaderboard has trouble displaying. If I switch language (and switch back) it's appearing without any issue.
Duolingo brings out A/B tests to see if various features add/subtract from the amount of time Duolingo users spend on the site. You don't get told if you are in one, and half the time you don't even notice them because the change is too small. However, I am not so happy about this one – it didn't take me long to notice it.

Very sad to see the leader board gone. BRING IT BACK! Some days it's what keeps my 800+ day streak going!
Just found a fix that worked for me: I had a classroom set up to track my own progress because I like statistics and that sort of thing. When I left my own classroom, the leaderboard returned again. So, unless you are part of an actual classroom using Duolingo, I suggest that if you want to see your leaderboard make sure you aren't a member of any classrooms.
I've just regained my leaderboard by exiting a classroom. I was experimenting with getting duolingo set up in school and had added myself to a classrom, then realised that my leaderboard with friends had disappeared. When I left the classroom, the leaderboard reappeared again.
I had hoped that we could set up a classroom AND have a leaderboard for all the children within that class.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Anyone have any suggestions?
If you subscribe back to a classroom and do the little test I mentioned to Libertad54 (here in this discussion), isn't the leaderboard displayed (each time you have at least once switched of course after loading the main Duo page)?
The other suggestion is to fill a "Bug Report" form (with as much details as you can, cf. text in this form), those forms being read by staff. While they will not answer to it (well, up to some exceptions probably ;) ), because they can't answer to each one, they nevertheless use them (among other criterias) to prioritize their list of bugs to be fixed according to the number of Bug Report forms received for each bug.
So the more we are to report it like that and sooner it’ll be looked at.

Mine is missing, too. I thought yesterday that it was an error, something that would be fixed for today, but it is still missing. I want it back, what can I do?

My leaderboard has been missing for two days and I'd like it back. When you have many friends it is easier to find them there, because I know perfectly who is top of the board and who seldom appears in Duo. And also you can see your XPs without adding different languages. Nobody knows why they have made it disappear or why they had chosen some people and not other?
Could you do a test?
Without refreshing the tree page, switch from one course to another for same native speakers, using Duo system to switch, no userscript.
Does the leaderboard appears back after you switch? And is still there if you switch back (still without refreshing) the course tree view together which the leaderboard wasn't there before the beginning of this test?

I was going to do as you suggest and I have found the leaderboard again BEFORE doing anything. I am going to change the language as I usually do and see if it does not disappear.

I have nothing to do with school. My friends are normal people that I follow, but still when they are so many I find it easy to use the leaderboard to meet them.
I have them all set up for that, but to see if they have done it for the day, I have to navigate to the classroom, click on each of their names individually and then view their activity log. It means loading about 6 extra pages and takes a lot longer than quickly glancing at the leader board. Admittedly it is only about a minute and half extra, but that is still a minute and half of wasted time.
Indeed.
Having a view with "XP per days" graphs (on the last days) for each student could be an idea to suggest to staff in Educators forum.
Or even just a column "worked today" in "activity details" page.

I got it back after two days. I do not know if it is related to the fact that I have just visited the school section and somebody was monitoring me and I deleted him.

I did not know that there was somebody trying to monitor me. Surprise and delete. And success.
