Duolingo is the most popular way to learn languages in the world. Best of all, it's 100% free!

Bring back the per-lesson progress/retention bars, please!

Most of the new redesign gets a big "Meh" from me (I had no objection to the old look, find most of the new colours too pastel and washed out, and have never been a fan of change for the sake of change) but the two parts of the redesign I really do dislike are the vanishing Vocab section (which has already been talked about elsewhere) and the end of the per-lesson progress bars.

When I open DL sometimes I really do want to narrow right down to something specifc for just one lesson, often because I don't have a long time for DL but want to get something focused, useful and easy to digest done.

Finding the weakest single lesson in a module I otherwise knew fairly well was an awesome way to get that quick, focused DL fix!

The full-module "Strengthen Basics" is not the same focused fix.

Please bring back the individual lesson strength bars - right after the Vocab section is brought back from exile!

I completely agree. I think I can get used to the update (though I'm not a fan of it aesthetically) but they have taken away some extremely useful features. I used to revise single lessons all the time, as it's difficult to do a full review of a subject I was extremely weak on and struggled to get through, like prepositions with the various grammar difficulties. Now I can't see which lessons I should be focusing on! Please bring this and vocabulary back soon Duolingo!

Thank you. I agree with this totally. Not all change is for the better and, if I was in charge I'd change it back. Hopefully someone out there is listening. Maybe I was missing something but I had no idea that the change was coming and it took me totally by surprise. I was having a lot of fun before and the "new" site removes many of the features that made the old one good. I don't like the aesthetic of the new site but could "get used to it" if they brought back the vocab and strenght bars. They enabled me to focus some effort for short periods when I was able to fit some time in.

Totally agree. Somehow DL is not so much fun now as it was for me before. (This is MY personal opinion, so don't shout at me!)

I'm hanging in with the new site but, I too, was having more fun on the old site. I miss the "Woot"!

I could not have said it any better. I totally agree with your reasons for the request. I am affected in the same fashion as you and so many others. Some of which who haven't and will not take the time to post something. I would love to see DL dial things back to where they were before the new (so called) upgrade. However, I still love Duolingo and I'm convinced its the best language app out there. Thanks!

AGREE 100!, please "bring back the individual lesson strength bars - right after the Vocab section is brought back from exile!" This change was a surprise to me, and I think it´s more dificult to learn with this new layout.

yes, could not agree more. there is now a completely new 'activity' section, which IMHO is completely useless for learning a new language. Please reinstate the old functionality whereby one can drill down into the various sections. Also, I found the discussions to each chapter very very useful as it was helping me understand some of the grammatical concepts.

I agree, I am finding the discussions under each lesson really helpful for explaining some of the concepts behind the lessons. Unless they are being replaced with an official explanation, it would be a shame to lose them. I think there is a difference between something being actively added to, and actively consulted. It might be a good idea to check the number of page views for those discussions before hitting delete!
