TROUBLE REMEBERING YOUR FRENCH VERBS?

Remembering your French verbs isn't the most exciting thing to be learning about in the French language however it is crucial you know them as they are the fundamentals of you making sense. I know I had a LOT of trouble remembering them and I know many people who do, so I thought I should give you a few top tips on how to remember your French verbs.

SAY THEM OUT LOUD: When you are learning verbs, say the subject and the verb out loud over and over again making sure you are pronouncing the verb correctly.

WRITE THEM OUT: Spend at least 5 minutes every day writing out all the verbs and it's subject. If you really want to push yourself, write a sentence with each of those verbs!

SING: This might sound like an odd one but if you sing the verbs, it will help you memorise the verbs in a fun way. Think of a well known tune, (I chose the Pink Panther theme tune!) and make a short song based on that tune ensuring you include all the verbs as your lyrics!

So those are my top tips on how to remember your French verbs. I tried these techniques recently and I found out that they are truly effective and they made me memorise the verbs within a week! I hope they do the same to you!

C'est interessant. Merci!!

I do not have a problem conjugating them,... the real problem for me is to remember the meanings of the verbs, so I am looking for a remedy for this problem of mine!!

Hello Anneysha7, I have had that problem quite a long time ago as well but a good way I started trying was to write or print out a list of verbs (5 preferably) and just focus on them until I have memorised them. Once I have memorised them I would go on to the next 5 verbs. You could learn as many as you want a day from the list you have printed out and every time you have learnt one cross them out. You could ask friends or family to test you out and you could make a goal like if you learn 5 verbs this week I will treat myself with a chocolate bar or something! This should motivate you and make it less hard remembering meanings of verbs! Good luck!

Thanks for the methods. In addition, I found the "Easy conjunctions" series at Memrise helpful for French, Spanish, and Italian verbs.

I also used Memrise to help with remembering French verbs. I used the 450 most common French verbs course and that really helped!
