I'm in the process of creating a basic Chickasaw course on Memrise, the first course I've ever created. Chickasaw is a very endangered American Indian language that is related to other Muskogean languages such as Choctaw and Creek. Feel free to stop by and check it out. If you do, let me know how I can improve it.

Maybe one day I'll be good enough to help create a Chickasaw course for Duolingo...

This is excellent! Thank you for taking the effort to cut up all the audio from the CD! I have this book, and I remember being rather frustrated at the lack of clear track-listings, which made it a tedious business to find the correct track on the disc. As a result, it quickly began to languish on a shelf. But this is where Memrise comes into its own when someone takes the trouble to put such audio in; I shall have to dig it out again.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am slowly adding audio, but it is the hardest part. Easy to pronounce words I just record myself, but I plan on cutting up the audio from the CD for the harder words/phrases.

Edit: I'm using info and audio from the book Chikashshanompa' Kilanompoli by Pamela Munro as well as info from the Chickasaw Nation website.

This is awesome! I took Pam's course at UCLA in 2005, and still have Chikashshanompa' Kilanompoli, but I didn't realize there were audio CD's with it! I love this language, thank you for making the course!

That's great! Are you Chickasaw yourself? It would be amazing to learn an American Indian language.

Yes, I am Chickasaw. My grandfather was a fluent speaker before he passed away. Unfortunately he didn't pass the language on to his family, but I am determined to help preserve this beautiful language.
