I got marked wrong because I didn't bother to include the punctuation.

This is the first time a lesson has cared about punctuation. I have left it out of every other lesson so far and have not had a problem.

In English, the quotation mark should go after the period.

In American English it does, but in British English the period can either be inside or outside the quotation mark, so it's not necessarily wrong.

It's not so much a matter of American vs British English as differing schools of thought regarding grammar. This is one of those things like Oxford commas that a lot of smart people spend a lot of time arguing about.

That is, I suppose, a better way to put it. Like you, I was surprised to be counted off for punctuation in English. If they are going to require it, they should accept all regional standards.

The punctuation with this one is really annoying. Unnecessary.

I thought the first sentence should be "Nói 'nhanh lên' đi". Is this not a correct way to form the imperative?
