"Pension" in connection with places should be "guest house" not pension.
German "Pension" does indeed also mean retirement payments for civil servants or soldiers and judges, but it is misleading in this context.
Cool, didn't know that. So the French gave that to both languages. Funny thing about the pronounciation, as I now understood, in English the boarding house kind of pension is pronounced French, the retirement relating one is pronounced English. We Germans do it just the other way around, that is most people do.
