European Portuguese...

Can anyone tell me whether this Portuguese I'm learning is European Portuguese or Brazilian Portuguese? I thought I was learning "Portuguese", then I saw this Brazilian flag in the icon when I logged in the web site..... omg...

Yes, it is the Portuguese used in Brazil, not in Portugal

Thanks for the information! On a second reading of my own post I realized I might have sounded a bit rude to those Brazilians out there. I hope they didn't mind. I was just a bit puzzled. Guess I should read something about the differences between the two varieties and the course should still be useful, I hope!?

Yes, that's helpful since these differences might be tricky! =) but, as you go through the discussions in each exercise, you'll find the nuances among them, involving words, grammar and also pronunciations! =) bons estudos!

Well, you are learning "Portuguese". It's still the same language. :p Despite teaching the Brazilian version, I think you'll find that duolingo is still good for building vocabulary and a base for the language. You would probably have to use other resources for pronunciation and grammar/word differences though. :)
