Change of my opinion

I´m from Czech republic and I learn english and french. I like english, but with french I have problem. Yes, I chose it on my own, but I never though that it will be so hard. I don´t like my french teacher, so I don´t like french. One day, my friend was talking about Duolingo and I decided that i will try it. And now I love it. Learnig with Duolingo is fun.

Ahoj Andreo, I come from Prague;-) French is harder than English but I think it is wonderful so don't give it up. I used to have bad French teachers as well but now I have a wonderful teacher from France, I use DL every day, I read news and even books in French, watch movies... and there is a visible progress - I am becoming able to communicate in French (which is my goal). And if I can speak French then everybody does. Bon courage!

I also love Duolingo to learn French. At first, I thought it was hard too but the more I practice, the better I am at remembering. It helps to study every day.

Salut! French has its own challenges, that's for sure but learning a language really is so fun! I spent around 6 years learning French in school and had practically nothing to show for it (although I always had a bit of a knack for the pronunciation). I started using DuoLingo seriously a week ago and my French has improved drastically, plus I've found, as you have, that it's extremely enjoyable!

Bonne chance!

Totally agree. I am in the same boat. Of all the resources, I tried to learn French, I thought Pimsleur (which by design is audio only) was the best. However, I did not complete their course for French, even as I completed and gained confidence in Spanish and Japanese.

Here comes Duolingo, and I regained my desire to take on French. Even though, Duolingo adds the complexities of script and spelling that goes very different from English, the script actually added to the fun of learning the French language.

In the end, I am making slow progress and Duolingo's style is helping keep my motivation high. I am going well ;)

Hello, I'm Czech too. I live in a little village near the Slovakian borders. It's sweet to see more Czechs here! :) And as for learning French, I've had a bad luck in school teachers, but Duolingo helped me a lot, especially to extend my vocabulary. And knowing more words, it's much easier to speak and express myself during school lessons. Anyway, French grammar might be tough, it took me long time getting to understand f. e. the meaning of subjunctive - and I think that school is a better place to learn grammar than Duolingo itself (however I love Duolingo!).

I also had a bad French teacher. In my head I tried to separate my hate/pity for the teacher and my love for the language and now I can enjoy learning French with duolingo! :)

I also want to learn Czech when it is available here! My ice skating coach is from Prague, so I would love to speak to her in her native language. In the meantime, I have been practicing my German with her.
