There are a lot of languages in the Learn English direction, but not too many other languages being added for English speakers. My assumption is that once you have a Turkish > English beta, you also have an English > Turkish beta. Wrong? Let me know. I seem to remember a post (feel free to post a RTFM link) stating the general timeline (this was before any languages were added last year). Thanks!

Once the English for ____ Speakers courses are done. Luis says that they're actually working on the Russian course now for English speakers, but it's not in the incubator.

Yeah, but which ones? They're not gonna wait for hundreds of languages to finish before going the other way, right?

No, but they will want to make courses for English for blank for most languages before doing Same for English. Of course, they will have some blanks for English before all the Englishes for blank are done

The reason of why they are taking so long may be the creation of the speech synthesizer for the new languages . They already have it for Italian, Spanish, English, Portuguese, and French, but they still need to create it for the other languages (Russian as an example).

They haven't given any updates (that I've noticed) since their original timeline of sometime in 2014, and I don't even quite remember their exact wording there, just that everybody (as internet people are wont to do) pretty much assumed that it would be January 1, 12:01 AM. Okay, that's a bit of an exaggeration, but I think most people expected that it would at least be starting soon. I would also be curious as to whether we could get any update, since while they're doing well and being very busy, the selfish part of me doesn't care about Russian or Japanese or Klingon people learning English, and can't wait for the reverse courses to become available.

I think their original timeline was actually by the end of 2013.

Yeah, I was one of those people who took it as the start of 2014 would be incubator betas of English > other-language. It's not so much that I want to see English > Turkish or whatever, but that I want to feel assured that there's just as much work being done on both ways, and ideally a neutral bias.
