As opposed to American commercial "bread"

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/JanLania

Most Americans eat shelf stable factory bread. It is not real bread.

I make bread myself

Literally, word for word what I was going to say.

I think that "is this real bread?" should be accepted

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/xyfell

It is now, but what would "un-real bread" be?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/cptchuckle

Fake bread, like a prop

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Jeffrey855877

Have you ever tried American commercial "bread"?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/cptchuckle

I actually only eat store bought bread T~T

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Star917

Good point x) no wonder I don't eat that stuff

Gluten free bread

I agree. I'm reporting it.

As opposed to bread made with sawdust which some people had during the WWII in St Petersburg (germans had the city under siege). Maybe that is what they mean here.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/RhiannonMcBride

Ooh, good point. I remember being in a museum there and seeing this little cube (2-inch/10cm) of mostly-sawdust that was an adult's daily ration during the Siege.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/MasqueArt

1 inch is still 2.54 ish centimetres, right? So 2 inch to 10 cm does not sound right

The World at War episode about The Siege of Leningrad, that was the thing I remembered about the most, the sawdust bread. Glad someone here mentioned this.

Audio is not correct. The intonation is not the same as in the interrogative sentence.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/DavidMatsi

Same as "настоящий", but you add "не" before it (не настоящий). :D. There may be also a another word for it, but I don't know it.

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/Alex2537

не настоящий = поддельный

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/elsantodel90

Should "is this actual bread" be accepted?

https://www.duolingo.com/profile/sp.ark

Actually no, this bread isn't Actual (for six months already), and inedible ;), but Really it's still Real one.
