Too few English-French translation exercises

Isn't it a pity that so much in the French course is translating from French to English? I would really like more English to French translation exercises. It would be so much more practical. (I also don't know if this is just French or if that's just the normal settings on Duolingo.)

I agree with you. Most people would say that you should do the reverse tree if you want more English into X LANGUAGE translations. While that's true, I think Duolingo should change their settings. We're learning a language, after all, and we need the best. We should not have to do the reverse tree for that. =)

That's exactly what I thought.

In the reverse course, the same thing is true but the other way, so you can get more practice translating from English to French in the reverse course, link to start it is here.

This has been posted several times in all languages. A couple years a A/B test was used on many users and it was found that less time was spent on the site if there were more exercises from English to X LANGUAGE. I wish there was a feature to pick the amount of translations into that language:

  • 0% to target language; 100% from target language
  • 25% and 75%
  • 50% and 50%
  • 75% and 25%
  • 100% and 0%

Thanks for that answer, makes things clearer. That would be a great solution, though!

That person is correct about the French course, I am doing it.

Since the shift to the crown system this has gone down to zero which is a real shame. There are now NO English-French translation exercises available. Not sure how to get this fixed?
