Android offline lessons not working properly

Supposedly we should be able to cache a few hours worth of lessons but it seems there's no explicit way of doing so. I'm often in the subway with no network access and even though I opened up a lesson before getting offline, the lesson(s) don't load. How do I make sure these lessons are available offline?

In addition when offline, it takes a few minutes for the app to recognize that it's offline. It allows me to continue with cached lessons for the most part, but it takes a while to do so.

As a suggestion to solve these problems, maybe an explicity "offline" mode can be selected by the user which would automatically download a tree level. This would also allow the app to recognize to go to offline mode right away instead of waiting for a time-out from the network.
