Many Ways to Say Thanks

There is of course the basic, simple, Merci. But there are so many ways to show your gratitude to those around you. Merci can be used in formal and informal discussions alike, but how would you say it if you were at a formal job interview or really are thankful?

Merci Bien = Thank you very much

One of the many phrases that say that you really do appreciate whatever they did. Similar phrases are as follows.

Merci Beacoup = Thank you very much

Je vous adresse mes plus vifs remerciements = I send you my deepest thanks (formal and often found in letters)

Mille fois merci = Thank you a thousand times

Mille Mercis = A thousand thanks (the more informal version of the one above)

The following terms are not as deep gratitude and are informal.

Je te remercie = I thank you (used between friends and family)

C'est vraiment gentil de ta part = It's truly kind of you (between friends)

The next phrase is a way to thank a group or a formal thanks to elders or strangers.

Je vous remercie = I thank you

Another thing you can do with the power of thanks is turn down an offer. You can say "non merci" which pretty much means "no, thank you" or something that means along the lines of "I appreciate the offer but no"
