Please help poet

A line in an English love poem needs to be translated to French.

The line should translate from "Does one compare the moon to its reflection?" and can be loosely translated if not at the expense of good French grammar and the essence of the message.

The French "reflexion" is too harsh for the surrounding lines. A softer word with similar meaning is needed.

Any ideas? Please offer any comments in English if possible.

Thank you!

well, "reflexion" means "consideration"--to translate "reflection", you'd want "reflet". If 'reflet' doesn't work, you could try something like "son image dans l'eau". If it's a shimmery reflection, you could go with 'miroitement', but that would place more emphasis on the shimmer than the reflection.

Thank you, @ecohansen!

So the suggested translation might be:

"Peut-on comparer la lune à sa miroitante?"

Is this correct?

"Peut-on comparer la lune à son reflet" would be more correct
