What determines whether to use 'dat' vs. 'die' ? (Die persoon is goed' vs. 'Dat hotel is nieuw' )

  • This - dit (het huis, dit huis), deze (de man, deze man)
  • That - dat (het huis, dat huis), die (de man, die man)

If you know if a word takes de or het, you'll know if you have to use dit/deze or dat/die.
